Yoga.
Not just for crunchy hippies*.

Are you seeking a complementary movement for running, cycling, crossfit or other activities? Want to build strength and mobility, to combat aches and pains as you slide into middle age?
Trying to find some clarity in an increasingly chaotic world?

You can find all of this, and a lot more, at Stone’s Throw Yoga, with myself, JB, my wife Mel, and our amazing team.

Less crystals, more cold-brew.

We’re not your average yoga studio. Mel and I are certified FRCms specialists. We’ve studied functional movement extensively. And we weave these valuable mobility concepts into the yoga practices we offer.

Of course, we’ve done a whole bunch of yoga training too. We’ve worked with leaders in Australia, India, Sri Lanka and North America. We take what we do seriously, and aim to offer the best yoga experience we can – and this resonates with our community.

The best yoga studio in Perth.

I’ve been attending Stone’s Throw Yoga for almost a year, initially with the intention of being able to perform all sorts of tricky, twisted positions and movements. But what I’ve gained is more than I could’ve imagined – patience, humility and the opportunity to understand my own body and self.

Mel and JB are not only outstanding individuals, but fantastic business owners always looking to provide a safe, positive environment for everyone, no matter the yoga experience or level.

Without a doubt, deciding to give Stone’s Throw Yoga a try was the best thing I ever did and I hope I am still a practising member well into later years!

And yes, we do offer cold-brew coffee 😉

For Hills folks, by Hills folks.

Mel and I have lived in the hills for years, and recognised the need for a dedicated yoga space for the amazing people here.

When the old Freemason’s Lodge in Mundaring came up for sale in 2019, we took the plunge and bought it. We renovated the property while both working full-time, and organising our wedding.

I won’t lie – that was a hectic year. But it was worth it. We’ve built a space that is beautiful, peaceful and evokes a sense of calm from the first moment you walk in the door.

Stone’s Throw Yoga is an incredible place, with incredible people! The variety in the teachers provides something uniquely different in each class, which provides such a well rounded experience.

This community of wonderful people provides an inclusive, caring and safe environment to explore yoga.

Stone’s Throw has helped my mental and physical health immensely, and knowing they are always there is so beautiful. Do yourself a favour and take the time to visit Stone’s Throw Yoga!

We’re active in the community that we love. We know a lot of people, and we give back wherever we can, supporting local events, community groups, and businesses. You can often find us at local coffee shops, sometimes working, always chatting.

We also recognise that yoga sits beautifully alongside other sports and activities. We run, cycle, and train at the local crossfit gym. Yoga complements these challenging activities, offering things that they don’t.

Why Yoga, though?

Well, you’re joining around 300 million others that practice yoga around the world. And if something is that popular, there’s likely something to it.

As a comparison, around 0.01% of the global population run a marathon in their lifetime. I’m one of those odd folks (ask me about it sometime, it’s a good story). And yoga is amazing for strengthening and recovery alongside your running habit!

Yoga has a lot to offer, especially when it’s delivered the Stone’s Throw way. We plan our classes in a considerate, mindful way. We also offer variations for differing levels of experience, so nobody is left out.

We have practices that will challenge you. Strong poses and balancing shapes build strength and stability.

We have classes that will calm your nervous system, leave you feeling soft, squishy and calm. What better way to be able to cope with all that life throws your way?

And there’s classes that offer both. Movement and mindfulness. Physicality and calm. Quite literally, yin and yang.

With over 20 in-studio classes each week, morning and evening, there’s plenty to choose from. And if you can’t make it to the studio with your work, life and family commitments, we’ve got you. We offer online classes that you can join live or view on-demand for up to three days.

I can’t imagine my world without Stone’s Throw Yoga!! Whether I’m craving a physical release or slowing my breath or having space to myself or connecting with others – all of these experiences exist simultaneously thanks to the beautiful space and community Mel and JB have nurtured! We are encouraged to try, to respect ourselves and to laugh!

All the teachers promote this ethos and classes truly do suit someone who’s never practiced before and those who are on the mat daily.

Life wouldn’t be the same in the hills without this studio (and community)!!
