Twice-daily yoga and meditation

Your days begin by moving through an invigorating movement-based practice. Build strength and vitality in your body and mind while practising stamina and focus.

As always, there will be options to increase or decrease the level of challenge. We’ll help you feel comfortable and capable, no matter where you are in your yoga journey.

In the evenings, unwind with gentler practices as the sun begins to set. Sink into deep stretches and constructive rest, melting away tension. Explore chanting and mantra, guided meditations and more. You’ll feel rejuvenated and ready for a restful sleep.

Meditation is an integral part of our retreat experience. We’ll help you build comfort, ease and routine in your practice. Developing this habit at the retreat means you’re more likely to continue meditating at home, which has lifelong benefits.

These perfectly-balanced practices will leave you feeling refreshed, energised, and recharged as you return to normal daily life.

  • An exclusive vegan Sri Lankan cooking class led by the talented Lanka Yoga kitchen team. Explore the local food, cooking with fresh spices and vegetables grown in their gardens.

Free time in abundance

Each day has plenty of free time – tailor this holiday to be exactly what you need!

Schedule an optional activity with the Lanka Yoga team, relax by the pool, wander the property and neighbourhood or take a luxurious nap. Our intention is for you to have plenty of time to explore, rest and unwind every single day.

Note that the scheduled free time is a much-needed recharge for Mel and JB too. This ensures that we can give you the best possible experience for the entire week. It’ll be up to you to decide how to manage this time for yourself or with the help of the Lanka Yoga team.

All-inclusive meals

Breakfast, lunch and dinner are included in your retreat cost, served on-site.

Lanka Yoga understands the importance of delicious, nutritious and sustainable food that supports both mind and body.

Their Michelin chef-designed menu (vegan Sri Lankan fusion) utilises as many local and home-grown ingredients as possible. The food is refreshingly varied, with unique dishes served every day.

    fruits and kithul honey
  • Date, coconut & cashew granola with homemade coconut yoghurt
  • Overnight oats with organic spices, fresh fruits and a crunchy top


  • Spiced cinnamon pumpkin soup
  • Grilled aubergine, tofu sin carne and a spiced couscous salad
  • Sweet potato smash, steamed veggies, fried tofu, and a tomato salsa


  • Jackfruit tortilla with coleslaw, tomato salsa and a homemade BBQ sauce
  • Sri Lankan rice and curry, a mix of different vegetable curries, rice and local salads
  • Homemade vegetable and tofu Thai green curry, served with rice

You can purchase nibbles, smoothies, cakes and other snacks between meals at the onsite Lanka Cafe.

Giving back

We believe in positively contributing to the countries we visit on retreat. It’s part of our ethos of doing good in the world.

For every person who joins this retreat, we’ll donate $50 to Dog Care Clinic. This local charity works hard to help stray and injured dogs by sterilising, vaccinating, and providing care. They also teach the community about taking care of animals and run programs that help animals and people.

About the venue

Lanka Yoga is on the southern coast of Sri Lanka, surrounded by lush greenery. It offers a tranquil and secluded environment while still being centrally located – the perfect balance for your getaway.

Just a short distance from the venue is Habaraduwa beach, a beautiful sandy stretch perfect for a leisurely walk. Surfers can access world-famous surf beaches ten minutes away that have consistent waves all year.

If you’re in need of a change of pace, the small city of Galle is a mere 30-minute drive away. Here you’ll find shopping, dining, and sightseeing options, including the historic Galle Fort, a UNESCO World Heritage site.

Lanka Yoga has an almost uninterrupted view of the pristine Koggala Lake from each room. You’ll see nothing but green and blue, with the occasional crocodile, swarm of eagles, and other wildlife that will make it feel like you’re living in a national park.

The venue has a focus on connecting with nature and finding peace and tranquillity in your surroundings. Some key features include:

  • A variety of outdoor spaces, including an infinity pool, grassy areas, and hidden nooks for studying, relaxing, or meditating.
  • A spacious, well-equipped yoga shala nestled among the treetops – all props provided!
  • A large vegetable garden and fruit forest, where they grow much of the food served on-site.

Shared Room (4 guests)

These luxurious and spacious rooms have a splittable king-size bed. There are also two single beds in the loft above, accessed by a cute ladder climb.

The whole group can utilise the huge bathroom, which is one of the standout features. It has a separate toilet, two showers, and two sinks – convenient and efficient! Brushing your teeth will be unforgettable when you enjoy the uninterrupted view of Koggala lake.

These rooms have cross ventilation and air conditioning for cooling. They also have massive balconies that overlook the lake; a great place to relax, read, or enjoy the beautiful view.

We’re only taking group bookings for these rooms, so get your friends together to nab one!

Shared room (3 guests)

This room is located next to the pool, and comfortably accommodates three guests in one single bed and a bunk bed.

This room offers added privacy and a stunning low view of the lake. Enjoy the Sri Lankan-style lounge area, or step outside into a private garden with a lush lawn for lounging or yoga.

The vegetable garden is just a few steps away, and a short walk will take you to the small jetty that extends out onto the lake.

The bathroom is luxurious and has a design that lets you enjoy garden views while you shower.

This room is equipped with both air conditioning and fans, allowing you to adjust the temperature to your liking.

We’re only taking group bookings for this room, so get your friends together to nab it!

These rooms are perfect for friends, couples, or individuals happy to share with a new friend.

Multiple room types are available, all of them with gorgeous views of the lake, modern bathrooms, and balconies to relax and soak up the peaceful surroundings. Each room has a splittable king bed.

Sustainably-built ground floor rooms are nestled into the earth with a green roof, meaning the ceiling fans alone keep them cool all year.

Upper level rooms have air conditioning to ensure they stay comfortable throughout your stay.

These lakefront rooms are perfect for the solo traveller who values their own space.

Built more recently and sustainably, they’re nestled into the ground with a green roof, meaning the ceiling fans alone keep them cool all year.

You’ll enjoy your own king bed, and everything else you could need to be both comfortable and cool. Enjoy a low view of Koggala lake over the tops of the mangrove trees, with a large natural balcony in front to relax.

Airport transfers

Transfers to and from Bandaranaike International Airport (Colombo) and Lanka Yoga are included in your retreat price, however if you wish to take advantage of these it is your responsibility to choose flights that allow you to make the transport time.

Transfer from Colombo airport to Lanka Yoga (Saturday 7th September)

By bus, leaving at 12:30pm.

Flight options:

  • Leave Perth early AM on Saturday 7th, arriving in Colombo ~10:30am
  • Leave Perth ~lunchtime on Friday 6th, arriving in Colombo between 9:30 – 11:30pm. Stay overnight in Colombo close by to the airport and have the morning to yourself before the bus transfer (cheaper flights/more prestigious airlines).
Transfer from Lanka Yoga to Colombo Airport (Saturday 14th September)

By bus, leaving Lanka Yoga late afternoon to arrive at Bandaranaike International Airport (Colombo) by 8pm to check-in for evening flights.

Guest requirements

Guests are recommended to have at least six months experience practising yoga to attend. However, this will be an accessible retreat for all levels. If you have any questions or concerns about your suitability to attend please contact us prior to booking, as deposits are non-refundable.

Guests must be at least 18 years of age. Guests under 18 who regularly attend classes at Stone’s Throw Yoga may be permitted, provided they are accompanied by a guardian 18+ years old and are approved by Stone’s Throw Yoga prior to booking.

Mel & JB
JB & Mel

Hi! We’re Mel and JB, the husband and wife duo who created Stone’s Throw Yoga. We had a vision of a space for people to escape their busy lives and experience the benefits of mindfulness, movement and community, which we’ve embodied in our studio and community.

Yoga and meditation has had a profound impact on our lives, and we’re passionate about sharing that same gift with as many people as possible – even those who think that yoga isn’t for them!

Our teaching is guided by both ancient yogic traditions and modern movement science. This creates unique experiences that profoundly benefit the body, mind, and spirit. We cultivate spaces that encourage exploration, playfulness and joy. Best of all – we don’t take ourselves too seriously. You can expect to have a giggle in most classes.

We’re firm believers in making the poses fit your body, rather than making your body fit the poses. You’ll feel comfortable and empowered to both challenge yourself and rest when you need to.

Mindfulness and meditation are key aspects of our teaching style, and are woven into all aspects of the practice.
