Laos Luxury Yoga Retreat

The Namkhan Eco Resort
Luang Prabang, Laos
September 20th – 26th, 2025
Join Mel and JB for a rejuvenating and blissful week in one of the world’s most charming and picturesque destinations: Luang Prabang, Laos.

We’ve planned a magical getaway, where we’ll take care of you from the moment you arrive.

We’ve got workshops, activities (including an ethical elephant experience!), delicious food, airport transfers and luxurious accommodation all sorted. Twice-daily yoga and meditation will melt away worries and leave you feeling strong and resilient.

With plenty of free time for relaxation, rest, and exploration, you’ll feel completely rejuvenated by the end of the week.

You don’t need to be currently practicing at Stone’s Throw Yoga to join us on this retreat – all are welcome!

Places are limited, so don’t miss out! Treat yourself to a truly immersive experience you’ll never forget.

Twice-daily yoga and meditation

Your days begin by moving through an invigorating movement-based practice at our riverside shala. Build strength and vitality in your body and mind while practising stamina and focus.

As always, there will be options to increase or decrease the level of challenge. We’ll help you feel comfortable and capable, no matter where you are in your yoga journey.

In the evenings, unwind with gentler practices as the sun begins to set. Sink into deep stretches and constructive rest, melting away tension. Explore chanting and mantra, guided meditations, yoga philosophy and more. You’ll feel rejuvenated and ready for a restful sleep.

Meditation is an integral part of our retreat experience. We’ll help you build comfort, ease and routine in your practice. Developing this habit at the retreat means you’re more likely to continue meditating at home, which has lifelong benefits.

These perfectly-balanced practices will leave you feeling refreshed, energised, and recharged as you return to normal daily life.

Activities

Our retreat activities celebrate Lao culture, wildlife, and its natural wonders.

Included in your retreat experience
  • An exclusive vegan Laotian cooking class led by a local chef. Start by harvesting your own vegetables in the venue’s organic farm and greenhouses. Then, guided by the chef, you will cook your own local and traditional Lao dish at The Namkhan’s farm to table restaurant.
  • An ethical elephant experience with Mandalao Elephant Conservation. We’ll trek through the jungle alongside two adult elephants, surrounded by jungle streams and luscious rice fields (a 2.5km round trip). Once our trek is completed, a delicious vegan lunch will follow at the Mandalao property.

This experience, included in your retreat package, helps fund Mandalao’s mission to preserve and protect both captive elephants and those who remain in the wild. Sadly, unethical elephant tourism is rife across Asia – we’ve heavily researched Mandalao and are excited to provide this ethical experience that supports their wonderful work.

  • Baci Ceremony with local Buddhist monks to close our retreat. This traditional spiritual ceremony, important in Lao culture, commemorates important events in a person’s life and creates inner equilibrium for the future.
Optional activities (extra costs apply)

The Namkhan can organise extra activities for you in your ample free time, such as:

  • Organic farm tours and workshops on-site at their farm
  • Bamboo weaving workshops with local Lao instructors
  • River tubing and kayaking
  • Sunset boat tour
  • Luxury river cruises

Free time in abundance

There’s plenty of free time built into the retreat schedule – tailor this holiday to be exactly what you need!

Schedule an extra activity with The Namkhan team, relax by the pool, take the free shuttle bus to explore town, or simply relax and enjoy a good book. Our intention is for you to have plenty of time to explore, rest and unwind every single day.

Note that the scheduled free time is a much-needed recharge for Mel and JB too. This ensures that we can give you the best possible experience for the entire week. It’ll be up to you to decide how to manage this time for yourself or with the help of The Namkhan team.

Giving back

We believe in positively contributing to the countries we visit on retreat. It’s part of our ethos of doing good in the world.

In addition to supporting Mandalao Elephant Conservation with our elephant walk activity, for every person who joins this retreat, we’ll donate $50 to SOS Children’s Village. They’re the world’s largest organisation focused on ensuring that children and young people without parental care (or at risk of losing it) grow up with the care, relationships and support they need to become their strongest selves.

The Luang Prabang branch focuses on:

  • Strengthening families and communities
  • Providing quality education
  • Caring for children who cannot live with their families, and
  • Supporting young people to become independent.

About your hosts

Mel & JB
JB & Mel

Hi! We’re Mel and JB, the husband and wife duo who created Stone’s Throw Yoga. We had a vision of a space for people to escape their busy lives and experience the benefits of mindfulness, movement and community, which we’ve embodied in our studio and community.

Yoga and meditation has had a profound impact on our lives, and we’re passionate about sharing that same gift with as many people as possible – even those who think that yoga isn’t for them!

Our teaching is guided by both ancient yogic traditions and modern movement science. This creates unique experiences that profoundly benefit the body, mind, and spirit. We cultivate spaces that encourage exploration, playfulness and joy. Best of all – we don’t take ourselves too seriously. You can expect to have a giggle in most classes.

We’re firm believers in making the poses fit your body, rather than making your body fit the poses. You’ll feel comfortable and empowered to both challenge yourself and rest when you need to.

Mindfulness and meditation are key aspects of our teaching style, and are woven into all aspects of the practice.
