What people are saying about us...

Our classes

We have a wide variety of classes daily to ensure you can always access exactly what you need.

Classes with the camera icon are zoom hybrids – meaning you can join us in the studio, live at home via zoom, or watch the recording for up to 3 days!

All classes are suitable for beginners and advanced practitioners, except for Vinyasa.

Slow Flow

Slow Flow allows you to explore interlinked poses with depth through steady, mindful movement. While the movements are slow, that doesn’t mean they’re easy! This is usually the most physically challenging of our beginner-friendly classes.

Yin + Yang

Yin + Yang classes begin with slow, exploratory (and sometimes challenging) movement. Then, you’ll transition into a Yin-style practice of longer-held, passive stretches. You’ll spend most of the class on the floor, which gives a delicious sense of grounding and connection to self.

Friday Unwind

Wrap up the working week and unwind with this beautiful combination of gentle movement and guided Yoga Nidra (yogic sleep) meditation. Guaranteed to set you up for a chill and recharging weekend!

 Yin

Yin is a floor-based practice, holding passive stretches for three to five minutes at a time. It’s great for improving flexibility and relaxing your nervous system due to its meditative nature – so important in busy, stressful lives.

Vinyasa

This is a physically challenging, faster-paced class. You’ll move through interlinked standing postures that stretch and strengthen your whole body. Recommended for those with good mobility and physical fitness.

Chair Yoga

Chair Yoga brings all the physical and mental benefits of yoga to those who need or prefer the support of a chair. This practice is perfect for those of senior age, in a bigger body, in the later stages of pregnancy or who find it difficult to get up and down from the floor.

Our story

Play Video

Mel & JB started Stone’s Throw Yoga in January 2020 with a vision of creating a home for mindfulness, movement and community in the Perth Hills. Now, over 300 people join us each month for their regular yoga practice!

With carefully-curated classes and a team of experienced teachers, you will always feel safe and supported throughout your practice, whether you’re just starting your yoga journey or have practiced for years.

It’s always been important to us to create a space where all people feel welcome and included – no matter their age, gender identity, ethnicity, sexual orientation or body size. Yoga is a powerfully transformative practice, and it is an absolute joy to share it with everyone who wishes to feel well in body and mind.

Stone’s Throw Yoga is the perfect space to disconnect from your busy life and experience the benefits of mindfulness, movement and community. We can’t wait to welcome you!

Om Shanti,

Mel, JB, & the Stone’s Throw Yoga team

Not sure if yoga is for you?

Here’s some of the common concerns we hear from people who are new to yoga.

I’m not flexible enough

That’s like saying “I’m not muscular enough to lift weights”. Very few people are flexible when they first start practicing yoga. The flexibility you see is the result of a dedicated practice. You got this!

I’m not strong enough

Yoga isn’t just about flexibility! It’s a big strength-builder too. We have a variety of classes that range from very gentle to very challenging. No matter where you’re at right now, we have options that will help you grow stronger and more mobile.

I’ve been injured/had surgery in the past

It’s never fun to suffer and injury or have surgery, and it’s very common to be apprehensive about movement afterwards. Being a bodyweight exercise, yoga is a really low-risk way to start to regain your strength and mobility, once your doctor has given you the go-ahead.

We always give plenty of variations to play with in our classes, so we have no doubt you’ll be able to move in a way that suits where you’re at right now.

And if you can’t currently get up and down off the floor at all, we offer a weekly Chair Yoga class, plus a meditation and breathwork class that can be done in a chair.

I can’t meditate, my mind is too busy

It’s a common myth that to successfully meditate you have to ‘clear your mind’.

We’re avid meditators and our minds still have plenty to say. That’s just what minds do. The key is in learning to observe the thoughts while they’re happening – and we can help with that!

I don’t know if I have the right clothes to wear

We don’t care what brands your clothes are. Come in fitness attire or your pyjamas. As long as your clothes are clean and comfortable, don’t restrict your movement, and your bits are covered, they’re suitable for yoga!

I’m worried people will laugh at me

Yep, it’s pretty common to worry about this when trying something new. You’re human, after all. Good news is, we’re a super beginner-friendly studio and most of the people who practice with us started as brand newbies. They know exactly how you’re feeling because they felt it themselves, too.

We promise they’re too busy trying not to fall over themselves to pay attention to you 🤣

I’m not young and skinny

It’s really unfortunate that this tends to be the image that’s projected of yoga. Yoga is an ancient practice that is genuinely for everyone – and we work hard to make everyone feel like they’re part of our tribe.

We always offer different movement options for the whole room to choose from (we won’t single you out!), so you can tailor the practice to exactly what you need on any given day.

I’m a man, isn’t yoga for women?

Yoga is for all genders. If you have a body, yoga is for you!

Men benefit from all the physical and mental effects of yoga just as much as anyone else – and we have many men who practice with us (some classes are even 50% men!). We have male teachers, too. You won’t be the odd one out. You’ll be the awesome guy caring for his body and mind.

I’m LGBTQI+ and worried I won’t be accepted

We are an LGBTQI+ friendly business and proudly display this on our front door. Discrimination of any kind is never accepted in our space. We also have gender-neutral bathrooms, and work hard to use gender-neutral terminology in our classes.

Ok. I’m in. What do I bring?

Yourself, a water bottle and a yoga mat. If you don’t have a mat yet, that’s all good too – we have a small amount for hire at $3.

Our studio

We’ve converted the old Mundaring Freemason’s lodge (built in 1926) to be the perfect hub for mindfulness, movement and community.

Warm whites, rich woods, beautiful artwork and abundant plants will have you breathing a sigh of relaxation from the moment you walk through the door.

The thick stone walls insulate you from the outside world – literally and figuratively – as you dedicate an hour to yourself.

Location

We’re just a Stone’s Throw away from the Mundaring town centre, at 2815 Jacoby St.

With plenty of on-site parking (and free street parking, too) visiting us is a stress-free experience!
