It's that time of the year
JB – January 7th, 2025
It’s that time of the year where we often make new commitments.
Maybe you’re planning to take a walk outside in the sunshine every day. Maybe you want to go stand-up paddleboarding at Lake Leschenaultia, go to the beach every weekend, or spend time in the garden. Perhaps you’re aiming to practice yoga and meditate more often!
New year’s resolutions can be wonderful. And if you’ve made plans to spend more time doing the things you love, I applaud you. That’s what life is all about. Spending time doing the things you enjoy.
The challenge comes when you have grand aspirations of how to spend your new year, but struggle to find the time to commit to these goals.
It can be helpful to take a moment to consider – what can you let go of, to make space for that which you want to embrace?
My personal goal for this year (and, hopefully, well into the future) is to commit more time to Stone’s Throw Yoga.
Mel and I share the management of the studio, with the amazing help of our studio manager, Kat, and our amazing teaching team. Alongside this, I run a small IT consulting company, which takes up a fair amount of my time.
It wasn’t an easy decision to make, but I’ve stepped away from most of my consulting work, so I can do what I love. That’s spending more time on our amazing little studio in the hills. And of course, sharing mindfulness and movement with the amazing community we’re so lucky to be a part of. We’ve got a lot of big ideas, and I’m excited to help bring them to life.
Without making space by stepping away from consulting, I wouldn’t be able to commit this time and energy to Stone’s Throw Yoga. I’ve chosen to give something up, to make space for that which I’m most passionate about. And while that’s a little scary, it’s also incredibly exciting.
Is there something in your life that you’re ready to let go of, to make space for something that you love?
