Are you curious about spicier poses in your practice? Have you been fantasising about getting upside down, or maybe you want to develop your existing handstand practice further?
Handstands are a whole-body skill, and it can take some time to build the strength, range of motion, and nervous system familiarity needed for this tricky pose.
These four 90-minute workshop-style classes will see you working through exercises and flows designed to build the strength and movement needed to successfully get upside down in a strong and safe way.
You’ll leave with homework each week to practice, before we eventually attempt a handstand in the second half of the course.
This course will be tailored to suit various skill sets and strengths, including those who:
- have never done a handstand before
- can handstand on the wall, but struggle to progress from there
If you can already free-balance, know that most of the course will focus on balancing with the support of a wall, and only initial progressions away from it. However the body awareness and drills you’ll be taught will likely help you develop your handstand regardless.
The course is not suitable for those who:
- haven’t had a regular yoga, strength or other movement practice for at least the last six months
- have current/active wrist, elbow or shoulder injuries. Old injuries are ok! All the work we’ll be doing will likely help build strength and mobility and help with your recovery, and you don’t *have* to get upside down if it ends up feeling like it’s more than you’re ready for. If you’re unsure, please discuss with your physiotherapist before booking.
Spots are limited to twelve people to ensure everyone has ample opportunity for personal guidance and assistance.
Cancellations: Bookings are final and no refunds are offered. If you can no longer attend the course, please cancel so we know not to expect you and can offer your position to someone on the waitlist, if applicable.
